Would you like pink slime with that?
If my previous post on pink slime wasn't enough to make you choke on your burger, here's a bit more to the story highlighting just how corrupt and unsafe the whole meat industry is.
The original NY times article is quite devastating for the meat industry, or at least it should be. Anyway, a massive recall of processed beef products from California this week made me wonder if they were using pink slime at the Huntington Meat Packing Inc processing plant, because the meat was tainted with the deadly O157:H7 strain of the E.coli bacteria (source:http://www.fsis.usda.gov/News_&_Events/Recall_004_2010_Release/index.asp).
This pathogen can cause your red blood cells to self destruct!
